Tell us something unique about yourself

Originally, with a dance background, I studied dance throughout school and then as a Degree at University. Whilst I was at University, I became a qualified group exercise instructor and fitness instructor. Following University, I then went on to study Dance as a Master’s Degree on a full scholarship. It was during my Master's that I started working for Virgin Active part time as a Front of House Assistant at our Ealing branch. Six months later, I transferred to Fulham as Member Service's Manager, before moving on a year and a half later to Kensington also as Member Service's Manager and then as Assistant General Manager.

Everyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with dogs. I currently have two; a Cockapoo called Brandy and a Bichon Frise called Scamp. I re-homed Scamp from Dogs Trust when I came down from University for a long weekend. My parents were NOT happy when I told them I re-homed a dog, especially when I was going back to uni the following day and the dog would be staying with them! My latest venture is that I have recently purchased my first home; a 16th Century barn conversion. The first pieces of furniture I purchased were dog beds, of course, one for the living room and the other for my bedroom.

Who are you at work?

At work you'll probably hear me before you see me; I'm 5ft 4 and trot around wearing heels. Though I’m petite, my size doesn't do me justice in how dedicated and committed I am to work. I'm exceedingly competitive and a workaholic; sometimes I have a can of Red Bull or Monster for breakfast.

Though I’m tough on the outside, I’m a big softy at heart; not only to dogs but also to anyone who needs help or support. I take pride in supporting and looking after my people, and making sure they know that I am always there for them. As Richard Branson quotes, 'If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients'. At Virgin Active we strive to create member experiences, and for me it's also about creating an enjoyable experience for our people.

One of my proudest moments whilst with Virgin Active has been working with the survivors, friends and families of Grenfell Tower.

What are your dreams for the future?

I would like to continue my career with Virgin Active. I love working for a company that constantly challenges and supports its employees to become better versions of themselves. My next step is to become a General Manger, but my overall goal is to become a Customer Experience Director or Operations Director - watch out Malcolm Armstrong!
