We are looking for a Digital Data Insights Lead to join our Digital & Tech Transformation department.

As Digital Data Insights Lead, you’ll ensure Virgin Active’s digital platforms are accurately tracked, observable and understood. You will turn signals from our app, web and in-club journeys into meaningful insights that shape product direction, improve member outcomes, drive commercial impact and maximise ROI. This is a hands-on technical role with strategic product influence, helping teams make data-led decisions that truly matter.

The Role

  • Design, implement and maintain analytics tracking and observability across all digital platforms including web, iOS, Android and in-club touchpoints.
  • Define event taxonomies, tagging schemas, tracking plans and instrumentation standards.
  • Partner with Engineering to deliver accurate, privacy-safe, resilient instrumentation.
  • Own dashboards, reporting and insights that teams will use day tot day.
  • Combine digital event data with CRM, product datasets and behavioural models through collaboration with Data, AI and MarTech teams.
  • Translate data signals into clear stories that highlight threats, opportunities, hypotheses and outcomes.
  • Quantify product impact across activation, engagement, conversion, retention, LTV and habit formation.
  • Use data to validate or eliminate ideas — ensuring we deliver what truly works.
  • Help teams define measurement during discovery, not after build.
  • Bring Virgin Active’s brand tone into data storytelling — insightful, clear and delightfully surprising.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in digital analytics across web and app.
  • Proven experience implementing tracking end-to-end using GA4, GTM, Firebase, CDPs, MMPs and similar tools.
  • Strong capability in event-based analytics, funnel design, retention curves and growth experimentation.
  • Ability to write SQL for direct data interrogation.
  • Experience operating as the connector between Product, Data, Engineering and Marketing.
  • A curious, playful and straightforward approach — using data to simplify decisions.
  • Comfortable working hybrid in line with Virgin Active expectations.
  • Nice to have: Looker / Power BI visualisation skills, experience with feature flag platforms (e.g., LaunchDarkly), or ML exposure.
