Racquets Manager

Declan joined Virgin Active five years ago as a tennis coach, recently stepping up to become the Racquets Manager. He was originally drawn to the company by the incredible facilities, which boast 14 outdoor and 10 indoor tennis courts, a phenomenal rarity in the UK that makes it a fantastic place to work all year round.

A major milestone in his career was being asked by his manager to transition from coaching into management. Alongside this, Declan is currently developing his skills through the Emerge Leadership course, which helps managers explore their traits as both individuals and leaders.

A supportive culture from the top down.

Declan’s proudest moment was teaching a four-year-old on the courts recently, which officially completed a family of five that he has taught individually. Seeing the entire family outside playing tennis together made his coaching journey feel complete.

While his role is niche, with only three of the clubs featuring dedicated racquets facilities, Declan believes it is these unique components that make Virgin Active so special. If you are thinking about joining the team, his advice is simple: absolutely do it.
